Solicitors have good working relationships with barristers and know how to effectively instruct a barrister and take control of the day to day administration or conduct of litigation. The majority of work carried out by us is referred to by solicitors.

We work closely with International Lawyers and clients  (particularly with our close connections in Europe, India and US) by assisting with clients in need of our services within UK and worldwide.

As regards litigation  in the courts of England and Wales, or arbitrations under English Law, it is highly recommended that you contact a barrister first if your are a foreign lawyer or business based abroad. Barristers will be able to give you an initial assessment and best stratergy for your case at very competitive rates and advise on the most suitable firm of solicitors to use if required.

Licensed access is a licensing system whereby organisations or individuals who are considered suitable to instruct barristers because they have expertise in particular areas of the law can apply to the Bar Council to be licensed to instruct barristers directly in those areas.

The Public Access scheme allows members of the general public and businesses to instruct a barrister directly without the need of a solicitor. A solicitor is not involved at any stage.  Although the barrister’s role remains essentially the same, members of the public may instruct a barrister directly through the public access scheme.
